Calgary Stampede in Alberta

Calgary stampede - RodeoEvery summer the cowboys and cowgirls of Calgary boot up for the Calgary Stampede. This outdoor celebration of western heritage, cowboys and agriculture is one of the biggest outdoor events held in Canada.

The whole city of Calgary comes down with Stampede fever for 10 days in early July as horses roam the streets and once sane people insist on screaming yeehaw!

Calgary Stampede events in the city include a parade, concerts and caravan breakfasts but the real rough-and-tumble action is found down at Stampede Park, south east of Calgary.

This is the heart of the Calgary Stampede where western gladiators compete in rodeo events such as bareback riding, bullriding, saddle bronc, chuckwagon racing and steer wrestling.

Pack your cowboy boots, put on a Stetson and buckle-up a pair of distressed jeans and you’ll feel right at home.
