Golf course in Vancouver Island BC

Vancouver Island is the best option in British Columbia for year round golf.

Many of the island’s 50 plus golf courses are located in the drier, warmer eastern and southern areas and visitors can enjoy ocean and mountain views along with the occasional bear sighting.

The Vancouver Island Golf Trail stretches 250km from historic Victoria in the south to the wilderness edge of Campbell River in the north.

The fees are generally cheaper than the mainland and the greens quieter.

If you want the full-on golf experience, Bear Mountain near Victoria and Crown Isle in the Courtenay region north of Nanaimo offer all the bells and whistles of resort life. Add-ons to the golf include including luxury accommodation, fitness complexes and spa and wellness centres.

There are lots of great views to enjoy from Vancouver Island’s golf courses but few can top the 40ft waterfall at Olympic View Golf Club. The course, which appears regularly on the “must-play” course rankings in Canada also boasts uninterrupted view of the Olympic mountain range.

Other highly rated courses on Vancouver Island include Arbutus Ridge Golf Club in the Cowichan Valley wine region, Cordova Bay Golf Course near Victoria and the Morningstar Golf Course in the seaside town of Parksville near Nanaimo.

Tips: Several Vancouver Island golf courses are signed up to the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP) which promotes sustainable course maintenance. Check out course websites to see whose signed up to the program.
