Few people brave the chilly waters but there’s the saltwater Kitsilano Pool if you really fancy a dip. At 137.5m, it’s the longest in Canada so come prepared for a real work-out if you want to do laps.

The toned and the tanned from across Vancouver come to Kitsilano Beach to strut their stuff but mere mortals are still allowed entry.
Hours: Open all year round.
